Rabbi Ma’ayan Sands received ordination from the Rabbinical School at Hebrew College in June 2016. She has been the visiting Rabbi at a Conservative congregation in Brookline since 2016 and has served as the Rabbinic presence at several assisted living facilities for more than eight years. For ten years she was the Director of BJEP and independent Hebrew School located on the campus of Brandeis University. During her tenure she was nationally recognized for creating an outstanding progressive curriculum for grades k-7.

As a person, a teacher, a story-teller and a Rabbi, Rabbi Sands’ passion is to bring Judaism and people together. She brings her curiosity, compassion and enthusiasm together with her experience with and knowledge of Jewish tradition, to her congregants. Her passion is to be a link in the chain of Jewish wisdom and tradition; a transmitter of our Jewish past, our ever-evolving Jewish present and a relevant and vibrant future of the Jewish people.

Rabbi Sands is an avid gardener. She loves to be at the ocean, to cross-country ski, and other outdoor activities in all seasons. She lives in Brookline with her husband Rick. They have four adult children. Rabbi Sands is called Savta (Grandmother) by Sam, Mikah, Zeviah and Jonah.
